Powered by the latest EP8 motor from Shimano. This modern power unit brings a long list of upgrades and changes to the table that has elevated the eBIG.NINE to the next level. The EP8 unit delivers a maximum power output of 85 Nm, which is an increase of 15 Nm from the previous E8000 unit. This has improved the performance on extreme terrain as well as lift up the other support levels, making them universally more capable and more fun to use. Paired with the high-capacity 630 Wh battery, the EP8 system delivers a huge range extension, making it easier to cruise for longer or do more runs.
Further to that, the power unit has lost approx. 300 g in weight, has further improved its heat-resistance, allowing the rider to go harder for longer, is quieter and smaller and has managed to achieve a 36% reduction in drag, making cruising about the cut-out speed even easier. All this helps to deliver smooth, direct power to ensure that the rider is always in complete control while experiencing a natural ride feel.
HFS - HYDRO FORMING SYSTEM
Tubes are inserted into negative moulds and a hot emulsion of water and oil is forced through at pressure, enabling them to be formed into complex shapes.
Our X-Tapered headtube offers the space for a tapered fork to be fitted. Tapered forks offer superb stiffness and precise and deliver confidence-inspiring steering.
Sometimes called ‘double pass welding’, a second pass over the weld gives a clean organic look to the frame. At first glance, you will be convinced it is carbon.
INTERNAL CABLE ROUTING
Cables are routed through the frame, entering and exiting through smooth sockets. The bike looks neat, whilst the cables are protected from moisture and dirt.
Bikes/frames with the symbol ‘Di2 Ready’ are prepared for the installation of Di2 technology with battery mounting in the seat post or within the fork steerer.
‘F-Mount’ equipped bikes have integrated fittings for mud guards (some bikes require model specific mud guards), making fitting fast and simple.
Integrated mount on the chainstay to fit a MERIDA kickstand (or any commercial kickstand).
PROLITE 66 TRIPLE BUTTED ALUMINUM
Our proven high-end aluminium (6066) is extremely light and durable. Using triple butted wall thicknesses and hydroforming technology, we can tune the aluminium tubes to give the best possible stiffness to weight ratio.
Cables, housings and brake hoses are clamped under tension to prevent rattling when the trails or roads get rough. All inlets are completely interchangeable to deal with Di2, hydraulic hoses, brake cable and gear cable housings etc.
CASTED MOTOR BRACKET
Sophisticated shape only possible due to casting technology, creating an integrated appearance as well as an extremely strong connection between the E-bike motor and frame for improved performance and reliability.
ENERGY GUARD TWIST
Twist lock mechanism that is located at the top end of the 'Energy Guard' battery cover, for easy locking and unlocking of the protective internal battery cover.
